How it works?

The „BALKAN“ is an electromechanical fitness machine, which enables its user to perform a wide array of physical exercises, both complex – across multi-joints and simple – across single joints for all muscle groups. The machine does not use gravity as do most fitness tools to provide the resistance against which the user exercises their musculature. It instead provides an electromechanical resistance, created by an computer-controlled electrical servo motor. The motor sets in motion the moving part of the machine via mechanical actuator.

The exercises can be executed in a dynamic - isokinetic or static mode, across a pre-set and selectable range of motion with a pre-set and selectable speed of the moving part along a single (1), horizontal axis in forward and reverse direction. Although many exercises are possible with the unit, it is designed in such manner that all exercises are a direct function of the same back and forth movement of the carriage. The force and thus effort which the user places on the moving part of the machine is being measured constantly by a load cell and is being simultaneously visualized on the screen of the monitor while at the same time being stored in the database. The stored data such as workouts composition, range of motion per given exercise/user, measured and calculated data such as maximum and minimum force, inroad, total force and many other parameters are assigned to an individual user profile and are available for analysis and comparison in real time for future workouts.

The machine is equipped with wheels with brakes, which makes it extremely easy to move and maneuver indoors. For reasons of safety and unobstructed operation, when planning its location in rooms, at least one (1 m) free space should be provided on all sides of the device.
